Depending on the type of peeler, characteristics might differ, but some of the most typical ones are as follows:
Type of blade: The blades can be serrated, curved, or straight. Curved blades are better in peeling delicate fruits and vegetables, whereas straight blades work well on solid fruits and vegetables. For peeling fruits and vegetables with tough skins, including tomatoes and kiwis, serrated knives work well.
Material of blade: Stainless steel or ceramic are the most common materials for peeler blades. While ceramic blades are even sharper and hold their edge longer, stainless steel blades are more resilient and simple to sharpen.
Type of handle: Handles come in straight, curved, and angled designs. Although curved and angled handles might be more pleasant to hold, straight handles are the most prevalent style.
